That was weird. Blogger told me I had cookies disabled. I do not. Well an anonymous commenter (aka JACK) told me I don't update often enough. Yes, I know. I'm lazy and its difficult to actually think, sit & post with Jaylen around. Besides there is nothing interesting to write about except for my complaining. But I hope to update more often. Soon. she's just not a sleeper

Jaylen went to the DR on Tuesday. She's normal. LOL 16lb 5oz and 28 inches long. She grew 1/2 inch in 3 weeks!! She's in like the 97th% for her height. But I guess I was really long too when I was 6 months. The DR asked if large heads ran in the family. LOLOLOLOL I said, "Why yes they do!" (Ok, I didn't say that but close). I guess her head had a big spurt. No wonder she doesn't sleep. There are no underlying causes for her not to be sleeping. Lucky us. He said at 6 months they tend to start waking up at night ... but she's been waking up at night since birth! He upped her Zantac to 1.3 ml 3x a day (how in the world can you meausre 1.3 ml????) to see if maybe that will help -- she's still not real thrilled with her bottles. So, we just have to suffer. She was up all night last night and I finally gave her a bottle at 4:30. I don't know what else to do. She's hungry. I can hear her tummy growling! She had to have 4 shots including the flu shot. They recommend every baby between 6 months and 24 months be immunized. So I said ok and had the shot. She developed a low fever and her leg was sore ... she would cry everytime I moved her. :( She seems better today .. no fever. So we'll see. She has to have another dose on the 31st. Poor baby. But then she doesn't have to go back to the DR until January. We need another room!! *sigh* I know a lot of it is that she is in our room, so I hear every noise she makes. But she does cry in her sleep a lot. I think she's hungry a lot of the time. She's just not interested in that bottle. And since when did they change all the rules about feeding??? Its been just too long since I've had a baby. Now they say don't give them much food because all they need is their bottle. Well she was up to 42 oz a day when I started her on food. She needed something else!!! I've been giving her cereal and yellow veggies & fruits. When Jesse (now 11) was a baby he was on baby food at 4 months, 2nd foods at 6 months, table foods at 9 months and off the bottle by a year. That was the rule! Now its all switched around. I don't remember much about Jordan & Jonah .. Jordan wouldn't eat anything anyway she was so picky and Jonah ate everything. But I think I did the same for them as I did Jesse. Now they say don't give them 2nd foods until 9 months! At this rate she'll be 2 before she's actually eating!!! She loves her food. BUt the DR said its more for "experience" than anything. I think thats baloney. They need to make up their minds!!! Grrr. I'm tired. Can you tell? Tomorrow is my brother's 29th birthday! And 11 days after that is my 31st. Ugh I'm old. :P In other news, Jesse forgot his spelling homework (or at least part of it) for the 2nd time! I think boys brains are wired to forget. More later.

I know you're not supposed to do that .. but when you've been up for two nights straight with a crying baby -- you kind of wish that these days were over with. And since when does Nick Jr end at 12:30? We got a special deal from Charter for expanded basic cable and internet service, so now we have Nick again. I love Nick Jr ... and apparently, Jaylen does too! She just stared at the TV when Blues Clues was on (I still miss Steve!) :) But it used to end at 2pm ... then again, that was awhile ago. I haven't watched it in forever. There is the cutest show called The Wonder Pets. Its too cute. Except they showed it for like 2 hours today. That's far too much cuteness. I called Jaylen's DR today because of her fussiness. And for anyone that knows me, it has to be bad before I call anyone. I hate the phone!! But I feel a lot better now that I've called --- not that they found a solution, the nurse was baffled! And Jaylen's DR was on vacation ... but the nurse talked to the DR on call. They've up'd her meds to 3 times a day instead of 2. Perhaps baby food is bothering her. Something is, anyway, she was screaming bloody murder last night! *sigh* Needless to say I'm pooped. But she's fine today ... happily slouching in her bouncy and shaking a panda rattle. I wish she could tell me whats wrong! She'll be 6 months on the 23rd. Hard to believe! In other news, prunes work. Too well. (No, not for me! I can't eat them or I'll explode --- and thats not pretty) So, if your babe is constipated, try a little bit ... they help. I tried too much and now she won't stop pooping! LOL!! I was in the kitchen holding Jaylen trying to get her to fall asleep and the new issue of Good Houskeeping was on the island (for some reason I keep getting those magazines) and I started flipping through and I turned to an article about feeling guilty. And while it didn't have any grand solution or anything it made me feel better to know that I'm not the only one who feels guilty about everything! :)

I'm sure all of you know by now that Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, died yesterday by a freak accident. He was stabbed in the heart by a stingray's barb. :( He was only 44. I'm so sad! I loved him! I thought he was great. Keep his family in your prayers ... he left behind a wife and two small children. RIP Steve Irwin. Feb 22, 1962 - Sept 4, 2006

crazy?

Am I crazy or just hormonal or both? But this past week I've had this overwhelming desire to find out more information about international adoption. Yes, adoption. As in adding one more child to this packed family. Yes, having a 5 month old that keeps me up all night and still wanting another child! I really don't know why I have this sudden urge -- maybe I am hormonal? But how could I be hormonal so soon?? LOL!! I mean, Jonah was 2 before I wanted another child. I just don't want Jaylen to grow up an "only child" ... I mean when she's 10 her nearest sibling will be 17!!! I want her to have someone to play with ... to be friends with! I don't want her to just have me & Jack. The other 3 will be too "busy" to play with their lil sis. I thought about adoption back when Jonah was 2 or 3, but I really wanted to just be pregnant again and I think a lot of that had to do with the situation we were in and hormones and etc. But I did get pregnant again, but I definitely do not want to do that again -- and kinda hard since Jack is *fixed* ... but I want another child. So, I joined a couple mailing lists just to get some info about adopting. There are even many places that have adoption grants & interest-free loans to help. And I'm praying. I don't know if God is laying this on my heart or if, again, I'm crazy or hormonal. So, I'm going to just let God direct me. I haven't even spoken to Jack about this yet because I know he's going to think I'm crazy. I've mentioned it in passing, but I think he's thought I was just joking. But I'm not! I can't get it out of my brain. *sighs* Maybe it's just lack of sleep. LOL In other news, Jaylen had sweet potatoes yesterday and she never even made a face ... she ate almost 1/2 a jar! I guess she's ready for food?? But then she was being really weird about her bottles. And last night she didn't sleep at all ... why is she so restless? She jumps around and rolls over and flips around and is just very active in her sleep ... and then she'll cry. I get up at least 8 times a night, sometimes more to settle her back down. She was up at 5am wanting a bottle. And yeah, I want another one. Crazy. :P One week left til school starts. Jaylen is going to miss the kids ... and as much as I'm glad they're going back, I'm going to miss them too. :)

thunderstorms & fussy baby

I'm operating on about 2 hours of sleep. First Jordan was up from 1:30a - 3a because it was thundering. Not very loud, the storms went south of us, but anything remotely close to sounding like thunder scares her. So, I sat in her room. Then when I get back to bed, Jaylen decided to be fussy. She was trying to wake up from 3a-4a. At 4:15 she was wide awake and wanting a bottle. Then after her bottle she would not go back to sleep. Sometime after 5a she finally fell asleep and was up again at 7am. I was sooo tired that I was determined to get her back to sleep after feeding her at 7. She fell back asleep in our bed about 8:15 or so and slept til 9:30. *sigh* Needless to say I was not a happy camper and I'm exhausted. She hasn't slept well all week. Its one thing to fuss with her during the day, but completely different at night!!! I need $112 in retail orders by tomorrow to stay active as a Tupperware Consultant. I don't think I'm going to make it - I have a catalog show ending Sept. 1. :( So, if you feel so inclined to help me out and make a purchase ... please visit: http://my.tupperware.com/princess (There are lots of things on sale!!) But I need it by 5pm EST August 25. Well, my brother Joel made it safely to Japan! I'm very proud of him, but going to miss him a lot. I have the whiniest children in all of the world. They are soooo whiney! It's making my head hurt. They go outside for 2 minutes and stand at the door and whine to be let in. They are just like dogs! I've never heard of kids that don't like to play outside. And when they do its "too hot" or "too cold" or "too boring". Running through the sprinkler gives them a headache. And they can't just speak normally ... no they have to drag out every word in a big whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. I haven't slept in a few days. Jaylen seems to be up every night ... I got up at least a dozen times last night to put the pacifier in her mouth or to pat her and calm her down. I don't know what her problem is. But it's making me nuts ... I wasn't meant to operate on such little sleep and constant headache! ARG! I'm having a bad day, can you tell? Sayonara Joel! (Did I spell it right?) He leaves today for Japan - has a teaching assistant position there for 6 months. We'll miss you!!! In other news, 14 days til school starts.

Only three more weeks until school starts. Woo Hoo! Just another quick update as I'm on the laptop again and I hate this thing. Jaylen is doing better ... she's been on her medicine for over 2 weeks now and on rice cereal for 1 week. She's still a bit fussy, but nothing like before (she has her days though). She's overall sleeping better and eating better. Although now that she's learned to roll over, she does it in her sleep and wakes up and cries. :( It's frustrating for her & me. Jordan has another sleepover tomorrow. She's a little nervous about this one. She's not a good swimmer and they're having swimming at the party. She wants everyone to accept her and I think she thinks that if she still needs floaties they'll make fun of her. I told her that if they're your friends they won't. :) Plus, someone else might need floaties too. She's also scared because she hasn't been to this friends house before - I think she's nervous about not knowing where everything is. The last sleepover she knew the friends house and the friends mom. I'm sure she'll be just fine. I told her that she doesn't have to stay the night if she doesn't want to. So, we'll see. My grandma's wedding is next weekend. Oh boy. Did I mention three weeks til school starts???

Just a quick update: I took Jaylen in on Monday for her 4 month appt. I explained all her weirdness to the DR and he thinks she has acid reflux. :( So he put her on Zantac to see if that will help. She hates it, it smells like mouthwash. Ick. Poor thing. I can't see a big change, but she is taking her bottles better. She is still very fussy when she's awake and not napping very good. She took two huge naps on Monday though, she was worn out from screaming so much at the Drs. She was not a happy camper. She had to have 4 shots as well. I'm using the broken laptop (we're letting the kids use it for "their" computer - although I think Jack uses it the most) so I don't wake Jaylen typing so much. (Our puter is in our room which Jaylen shares with us) Anyway, I hate this stupid thing. Its being weird and my hands keep hitting the mouse thingy and I end up with text in weird places! LOL Oh and Jack has acid reflux too. :( He's on Prilosec. Apparently its been helping which is good because if it didn't the next option was surgery and I don't want him to have to have surgery. In other news I have PMS. Bad. @_@ More later. Maybe.

Jaylen has decided that Mom is best. And if Mom isn't around she's going to fuss and fuss and fuss until she shows up. It used to be that she could be entertained by her siblings, but now, I'm it. I have to put her in sight of me at all times while she is awake or she'll just fuss and fuss! Then after fussing for a bit she'll start to get mad and scream. *sigh* I have a front carrier thing, but she hates it. She screams. So I have to either sit on the floor by her, hold her or otherwise entertain her. The kids try to help, but most of the time she just wants me. She just fell asleep in her bouncy seat ... I had her in the kitchen with me while I made bottles. She's been very grumpy today. And its only 10:30am! She was up all night ... I got up countless times to put the pacifier in her mouth. She had a bottle at 4:30am. She'll sleep thru the night about 3 times a week. Now she's doing the weird bottle thing again too ... only drinking half and then screaming when I try to give her the rest .... and I know that she was up all night last night because she was hungry, but I can't get her to eat! :\ Ugh. We're going to a Whitecaps game tonight and my MIL is going to watch Jaylen, I hope she does ok (Jaylen that is ... LOL) ... she's been really grumpy at night ... ok, well, this week she's been a constant grump. She must be growing? 15 minutes and we have to go pick up Jordan from a friends house. She went to her very first sleepover last night! No one called so I guess she did ok. LOL :) In other news ... random thoughts from Jonah: Your nose is in the very middle of your head. I can walk under a monster truck. Bandaids have holes in them so your skin can breathe. These are quotes from Jonah ... he'll just say them out of the blue. He's so funny.

Jaylen is doing better with her bottles and is now up to 6oz. I think she's growing. She goes back to the dr tomorrow for re-evaluation of her head. I think she's doing a lot better, hopefully the dr will think so too. I can't tell if her head is less flat on the right side or not, but she can hold her head up really good while laying on her belly and she's sitting better (with support -- I mean, she is only 3 months). Either way, we're going to say no to the helmet. All my other kids had the same problem with their head, but I guess the new thing is to give out helmets. And none of my kids have weird misshapen heads. I figure once she's a little older and stronger it won't be an issue at all. We're planning on going to Binder Park Zoo on Saturday ... but it's supposed to rain. :( Pray it doesn't! It's a great zoo, well, at least it was 4 years ago when we last went. In other news, the armless lego man is now fixed and apparently on Jango & Boba Fett's airship. ;)

Jaylen is driving me nuts. She won't drink her bottles. She'll drink 1/2 and then burp, then after that she is done. She refuses to drink anymore and screams and has a fit. *sigh* I'm getting so frustrated! She was up to 5.5 oz bottles and now she'll drink about 3oz. She seems happy enough, but she gets hungry before 3 hours is up. Normally she would go 3-4 hours between bottles. Now she's every 2 1/2-3 hours. But she did sleep through the night two nights in a row! Woo Hoo!! :) She'll be 3 months on Friday. Maybe an early teether?? She has all the symptoms of teething. I don't know what her deal is. She's just weird. LOL Her head/neck is doing a lot better, but she still favors the right side. She can hold her head up really well when she lays on her belly, but only for a minute or two, she gets annoyed being on her stomach. She's trying to roll over and it makes her mad because she can't. LOL Oh the joys of a 3 month old. But really, she is a good baby. The other three are behaving better today. Yesterday was the day from hell. Seriously. Ugh. They're outside playing in the kiddie pool we have. Jesse & Jordan were playing Barbies in the basement and I told them to go outside, but Jordan wanted to play Barbies outside and Jesse said "I'll play Barbies in the basement ONLY" ... ROFL ... he doesn't want anyone to see him playing Barbies with his sister outside!!! LOL!!! I'm feeling better ... I still feel a bit dizzy, but not as bad as yesterday. Ugh, that was awful!! I think its my allergies. We live next to a field and who knows whats growing in it. Gas prices need to go down. NOW. I'm going to write the govt a threatening letter. :P

I feel sick. I have a headache and I'm really dizzy. It came on suddenly. I don't know why, it's not hot in here. And really nauseous. UGH Jonah is being a right pain today. I hope he's not getting sick. He seems to get really naughty and grumpy when he's getting sick. Maybe too much warmth over the weekend? It was so hot on saturday, but we went swimming at Grandma Glass's anyway. Plus the 3 older ones went to the zoo on Friday. Maybe it was just too much for him? He wears out easily. Don't you just love my music? ROFL ... although for some stupid reason IE keeps prompting me to download active x on my page. I have it set to accept all active x .... but it's still prompting me because of my mp3. Weird. Yo ho, yo ho! A pirate's life for me. Hehehehehee ... In other news, I think Jaylen is teething.

{ flies, farms & shaving }

Found out just how very white my legs are - and fat. I shaved ... then put on shorts. Oh my. I got bit by a black fly and it hurt! :( The kids were out riding their bikes and they came back all excited to tell me they found a farm. Apparently at the back of the neighborhood there is someone that lives on a farm and their driveway comes out to the cul-de-sac that is a street over from us. The kids thought it was a road so they drove their bikes down it. I told them that I'd go out with them when Jaylen woke up. I realized once we got there that it was a driveway and not a street. LOL! And sure enough there is a farm back there ... over a little bridge and behind some wooded area. Hay, cows, horses ... farmy farm stuff. Lampposts too, Jonah was calling it Narnia. It was neat, but I felt like we were trespassing so we didn't get real close. Its warm out. I had lunch today. Woo! Ham sandwich and an apple. I hardly ever eat lunch. Patch & Kayla are back on DOOL! Jesse's fish died. :( No memorial service. The kids have been out of school for almost a week and I think I'm going insane. I banned the word "bored" but instead they say "I don't know what to do," ... I'm not an entertainer! This isn't a celebrity cruise here, friends. :P And I have a headache ... but I think its the weather. Well, that and the kids. Hehehehe.
